5 Unexpected Space Mysteries That Blew Our Minds! Description: Space as it is known by us is where there is really nothing but stars and hidden planets that have yet to be discovered. We are much more comfortable not questioning what happens in the lands beyond our own reach, so we are often astounded by anything that is discovered from space. However, there are things that have been discovered in space that have surprised even the scientists who discovered it themselves. With this being said, prepare to be amazed with these 5 Unexpected Space Discoveries That Blew Our Minds! Lets...Begin! 1. The Planet That Shouldn’t Exist There is a planet in space known as Kepler 78b that shouldn’t exist technically. Kepler is a planet that is covered by lava and fire and it is only about 1.6 million kilometers away from its sun. Which means that a year on this planet is just about nine hours on earth. The reason it is referred to as an anomaly is because it is so huge and yet extremely close to its star. Scientists have been unable to explain why this planet exists where it is situated. This planet is one of the most earth-like planets as it is about 1.2 times the size of earth. The temperatures on this planet can reach up to 2400 degrees. It has been observed that this planet will one day be destroyed by its own star and that this destruction will be inevitable. Lets just hope that this doesnt happen to Earth...... 2. The Great Void One thing that we all understand about space is that it is a complicated place to understand. However, there is a place called Bootes Void, which according to scientists is just a huge chunk of emptiness. This place was discovered in 1981 by a scientist named Robert Kirshner who named it The Great Void. Apparently, an area that is more than 300 million light years away has about 30 galaxies. This galaxy should technically not exist according to the scientists because an area that large should have more than 10000 galaxies. 3. A Massive Debris Ring A star that was recently discovered is helping scientists to figure out how huge stars are made. Today, stars are categorized in two main categories; big and small. It will surprise you that the sun falls among the small stars. If it was to explode, it would be nothing more than a simple explosion that wouldnt even attract the attention of a fly. The newly discovered star that goes with the name IRAS is rumored to have been formed just like all the other smaller stars although other theories suggest that bigger stars are made out of many small stars merging. 4. The Milky Way’s Blanket Our milky way is made up of different matter that scientists have been unable to describe as of today. A recent discovery in the Milky Way shows that there is a huge blanket of hot gas that is apparently burning at over 1.2 million Kelvin. A recent study conducted in Japan indicates that there is a huge blanket of hot simmering gases around the Milky Way. The exact size of the blanket is unknown although most scientists opine that it is really huge and could extend up to the size of the galaxy itself... Goodness! 5. The Largest Radio Galaxy One of the most pleasant things to look at is the radio galaxy. They are referred to as Radio Galaxies because they emit great amounts of energy at radio wavelengths. The biggest radio galaxy is called J1420-0545 and it stretches over 15 million light years of space. It is also known that these radio galaxies live very fast and usually die young. It is the large sizes of matter emitted by these galaxies that causes them to exhaust so fast. They would glow and die off, becoming completely inconspicuous. This however does not mean they die forever as they may sometimes come back to life again....
