4D Printing Self-Building Space Stations!
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Forget 3D, 4D is the future! The kinks are still being worked out, but this new technology could transform life here on Earth, and even outer space. Anthony tells us how. Read More: "Next, 4-D Printers?" http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/26/next-4-d-printers/?ref=business "Now that the promise of 3-D printing has landed on the national agenda, researchers want to increase the stakes — with so-called 4-D printing." "4D printing sees materials form themselves into anything" http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-02/27/4d-printing "There are 3D printers that build things up, adding one sliver of plastic at a time, and 3D mills that tear things down, grinding away one small chunk at a time. But Skylar Tibbits offer a very provocative alternative: technology for 3D printing where the chunks start separated and intelligently arrange themselves into basically any object." "Skylar Tibbits: Can we make things that make themselves?" http://www.ted.com/talks/skylar_tibbits_can_we_make_things_that_make_themselves.html "MIT researcher Skylar Tibbits works on self-assembly -- the idea that instead of building something (a chair, a skyscraper), we can create materials that build themselves, much the way a strand of DNA zips itself together." Technically every printer is a 4d printer in that it has a measurable L*W*H and prints over a scale of time. This kind of printing, while amazing and truly awesome, should not be defined as 4d but instead predicted memory printing or something similar.

Arka is an underworld realm – dhe so-called third earth – to whence Cain was exiled after his expulžion from Eden. Some traditions assert dhat he dwells dhere still, claiming dhe title Rex Mundi: dhe Lord of dhe Earth.

Great! But now we need... 5D PRINTING!!!
-
What would you do with one of these? A planet we can 'drive' perhaps.

how bout clothes that when u jump into water its a wet suit but out the water its just casual clothes

A robot 4D printed is a human?
-
For the whole video i was staring at his t-shirt with the tiger holding a gun...
-
i would apply it to clothes that when mixed with a unique chemical blend found in blood would contract applying presser.

This memory could be useful for bikes and hopefully not lose much of any force due to the material's nature. I'd think a bike pedal that would press down or something, then come back up and add force to a wheel to be pretty nice.

Just watched videos on other dimensions and then saw this and was like A 4D OBJECT WTF... Turns out its plastic that folds... Disappointed. Still cool though

Can i print car that doesn't use gasoline.?
-
this is not 4th dimensional, the 4th dimension adds to depth length and height, but we don't know what it is
-
damn our religions, in the future We are gonna be able to PRINT LIFE.

How can a chemical reaction do anything to do with 4D

This reminds me a bit of an old Simpsons' episode, one in which Lisa discovered a politician wanted to permit illegal deforestation. In my opinion, this kind of tech would accelerate illegal construction. For example, there are politicians that would benefit from this because they would just let people deforestate everything, then build shit on top of the deforestated land. So fast, that people wouldn't be able to stop it, and this would continue to a point in which we have almost no nature between us. We're not hurting our planet, but hurting ourselves. This planet will continue to exist without us, but we are making human life less possible.
