The myth that bugs me the most is that if you touched a baby bunny it's mother will reject it. This is totally not true because even though that the mother smells human on her baby she wouldn't reject it.
Think of it this way, if your child was touched by a stranger and you could smell it you would not reject your child.

The individuals with a certain gene don't have to die for the gene to disappear. They have to fail to produce fertile offspring. All sorts of random occurrences (to say nothing of the non-random ones) can prevent that happening. Statistically, the rarer a gene is now, the more likely it is to drunkenly stagger into extinction.
That said, the argument you were supposed to be refuting is that red hair represents an adaptation to a particular climate and is likely to be maladaptive in predicted future climates. Yet you didn't say anything about any of that. -
