The reason it is called a "black" hole is because it sucks up all the light that hits its border and reflects nothing. Formed when an amply compact mass deforms space and time, a black hole has a defined surface known as the "event horizon" which marks the point of no return. Little is known about black holes but several scientists in history have developed their own theories about their properties and structures. if you were to get the mass of the earth, and crush it to the size of a peanut, youd have a black hole, and if you got the mass of the sun and compressed it to the sizenof mount everest, youd have a black hole. an example of just how dense black holes have to be, say you wanted to turn a US nickel into a black hole, you would have to compress it so much that the size difference between the coin black hole and a hydrogen atom (the smallest atom of any) would be the same as the size difference between a hydrogen atom and the sun. that blacl hole wouls be roughly 1.15833333×10^19 times smaller than a hydrogen atom, thats 11583333300000000000 (11583333.3 trillion) times smaller or about 1.03597123 × 10-17 picometers.

Black hole are man made, fake, no deep space 9! Big fat lie :) we live on a flat plain Not a ball planet. Do some real research and you find the hidden truth. Sea level, watt doesn't curve around and stick to balls by gravity! If there was such a thing as gravity that held down oceans of waters, then butterflies, bugs & birds couldn't fly. Airplanes can't safely land on a spinning ball either.

another fact that i learned from a physics professor.... black holes do NOT go around sucking things up.... they remain where the star collapsed...... also, if our sun became a black hole, absolutely nothing would happen to earth's orbit. Granted, by the time that could be proven first hand, all life on earth would be dead, due to lack of sunlight and heat....

In the example of the video where it said you can create black holes with your car keys if you were to shrink them a lot, the radius of an imaginary sphere with the mass of the car keys would have a radius known as the schwarzchild radius.
This also means it would have an escape velocity greater than the speed of light.
