2029 : Singularity Year - Neil deGrasse Tyson & Ray Kurzweil

1. Okay then. A bit fantastical....sounds pretty scary.
2. Why are you losing your time with this asshole Mr Tyson?
3. Star Trek predicted all of this with the Next Generation.  The Borg pretty much amalgamate human consciousness into a hybrid biological mechanistic being.  This is already happening in 2016.  Scary because we do not know what the long term precautions will be on our species.
4. Usually a big Neil DeGrasse fan but he seems very skeptical and had this look/demeanor as if Ray Kurzweil is explaining that the flying spaghetti monster is real. It was actually sad and alarming because, being a man of science you'd think he'd have an open mind about this particular subject matter. It's all fun and games until the singularity actually occurs and you look like a tool.
5. im sure this guy is smart but it seems like he has spent so much time in his own thoughts and thoughts of bots to realize his ideas are flawed in many ways...
   his obsession with "the cloud" would be more useful if we actually had a cloud, but the reality is actually telephone and fiber cables that run through the ocean and towers bound to earth we connect to wirelessly. there are some satellite phones but not widely used so there is no "cloud" really..a big enough natural disaster could cause a large portion of the internet to "go dark" at any given time... to expose our minds and evolutionarily incorporate AI into one's mind to something so precariously set up seems reckless at best

7. Tyson is a smart guy but I don't like his whimsy attitude. Kurzweil is actually answering the questions very polite so Tyson should show more respect for the information instead of trying to make a pun at the end of each answer.
8. Neil is getting too "pop" for my taste...
9. I very strongly disagree about humans thinking linearly. Our intuitions are very much exponetially/logarithmicly. we are interested if there is 2 or 20 lions ready to attack. not 2 or 3
10. Man, these two guys have taught me so much.
11. Ray keeps making predictions as fact. As soon as that happens you know he's a salesman - he's selling his ideas to make a living. When some come true he will claim them, the majority that are wrong he will fob off with hind-sight reasoning.

15. Kurzweil says 2045, Vinge says 2030. Two people smarter than me talking about the Singularity. Now you got my attention
16. I liked Neil deGrasse Tyson when he was the front man in the funk band Cameo.
17. And remember people, 2029 is about 12 years away, that's not a long time. Exciting!
18. Until we rid the world of fear, anger, boredom and laziness we will never get as far as many want. Basic human emotions are really holding us back.
