20140804 - Jon Blum - Southern Hemisphere Skies: Observing in Chile

Jon Blum will give our feature presentation, “Southern Hemisphere Skies”. This past March, Jon went on a Sky & Telescope group tour to Chile. He will report about the sights on that trip, including towns in Chile, the Atacama Desert, professional observatories, and fascinating celestial objects that we cannot see from here in the northern hemisphere. Jon has been a WAS member for ten years. He was our president for the last two years, and vice president before that. This is his thirteenth WAS presentation. Past topics have included astronomy gadgets and astronomy trips. Jon is a retired dermatologist.
