Lol. Well it was a little exaggerated from this 1968 film. That is specifically based on how our advanced our space exploration and tech would be in the year 2001. They make 2016 space shuttles look like a joke. Should be 2200: A logical Space Odyssey.

This was truely 40 years ahead of it's time. The color grading, the effects, this trailer, everything. Stanley Kubrick was definitely a visionary. RIP
-
so beautiful. in my opinion, the most important film ever made. ahead of its time, terrifying, and profound, even 40 years down the line.
-
This came out in 1968?! Damn the special effects are so far ahead of its time.
-
Put this back in theaters. I want to see this on a big screen again!
-
can someone explain to me why this is such a beloved film? Other than its importance regarding the fake moon landing
-
who's here because of jacksepticeye?! :D
-
The fucking voices, man, give me chills everytime
-
Well that just gave away most of the movie 😂
-
This trailer gives out the whole movie. Good thing didn't watch it after seeing the movie.

Holy fuck! This is like a modern day trailer. Which is funny because modern day trailer, like modern day movies, seek to capture people's increasing lowering attention span, while being quirky. But the movie, unlike the trailer, had no regard for people with short attention spans. The trailer presents a grand scope, I can't imagine what a person in the 60s would've felt seeing this trailer in the theater. They'd have probably lost interest in the film they were going to see when the trailer came on.

the actor talking at 45 seconds played the British general in 'Barry Lyndon'

Beautiful trailer. It must be relatively new: the image quality, the editing
style, and the 3d title at the end are all modern. Presumably made for
the Blu-Ray remaster or the cinema re-release a few years back. But, though the film has obviously undergone some digital cleanup, it just shows how far ahead of its time it was, that it can still look this good after nearly 50 years. Deserves to be watched on the biggest screen you can find. -
honestly, this is the scariest, horrifying, creepiest, frightening, alarming, terrifying, petrifying, hair-raising, spine-chilling, blood-curdling, bone-chilling, chilling, horrifying, nerve-racking, fearsome, unnerving, eerie, sinister, creepy, spine-tingling, spooky, hairy
chilling, shivery, scarey, shuddery MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN ! even the conjuring part 1 & 2, the grudge, hellraiser, halloween, decent, event horizon, alien, aliens, the thing, saw series, martyrs, inside, evil dead trilogy, deadspace, dead silence etc..... are combined ! this are not enough to surpass the scariest level this creepist MOVIE EVER! -
2001: a space odyssey -"a struggle for existence in which the fittest survive, strength is the only virtue, and weakness the only fault."

2001: s space odyssey - “Behind every man now alive stand thirty ghosts, for that is the ratio by which the dead outnumber the living"

the 1st time i saw it i was not too impressed but after about the 5th viewing , i can confirm that 2001 is a milestone in cinema history and that nothing compares to it, as martin Scorsese noted "Every frame of 2001 made you aware that the possibilities of cinematic manipulations are indeed infinite, like griffiths intolerance, like Murnaus sunrise, it was at once a super production, an experimental film, and a visionary poem".....

Those iPads at 1.24 should have corrected HAL and his childish mistakes.
After all.
iPads are supposed to be much more advanced than HAL.
