I'm looking for an 1980's movie sci-fi that has a large black wall like monument in it. It star's a little girl. I thought it was called Monolith but this movie keeps on coming up. Anyone know? Thanks.

Best movie ever made
-
to me, this is the best si Fi movie of all time as love how it's made!

i watched interstellar recently and i noticed that nolan took a lot of inspiration from this film, and he succeed in portraying the hugeness and mystery of space (mostly). but the thing that really bothered me about the film was the ending. i found that it wrapped the story up way too tightly to make me question anything about it. combine that with the stupid "love is the only thing that transcends space and time" plot point and i ultimately ended up feeling disappointed despite how good the film was for most of its run time. 2001 is a whole different story, for days after watching it all i could think about was trying to comprehend what had happened, and why it provoked such a strong reaction from me. that is why this film is so amazing.

the camera is made by NASA. that why this movie looks great

I saw this in the Hollywood Egyptian theater a few days ago. With all the action oriented, uninspired movies coming out these days, it's safe to say I was rather numb to the world of cinema. I needed a refreshing. And after seeing this wonderful, thought provoking l, artistic composition, I was speechless. The term timeless has no better proxy than this film, that could easily be mistaken for an early 2000 movie. It's uncanny decision to tell the story primarily through strong iconic music and abstract sequences is so mesmerizing, and its ability to switch story sequences without seeming inconsistent is golden. I love this movie, so dearly.

So, Actually, this film is a theory about "the birth of Prophet Adam to the earth"?
Am I right? And God is a rectangle? Someone tell me the truth!! -
I'm not sure why this popped into my head but watching this trailer it reminded me of Nolan's movie Interstellar. It's basically 2001 for Millennials lol. Most filmmakers today think we're all rubes who need our hand held and told everything is going to be alright. Not to say Interstellar was a bad movie but it irks me in a very odd way; I think it was capable of greatness but it chickened out. 2001 double downed and it's legacy is a testament to the power of ambiguity on a (cough) cosmic scale.
