2001: A Space Odyssey in 15 Minutes!

Many years ago, I took a weekend and edited 2001: A Space Odyssey down to a more reasonable duration. It favours the story over the style, substance over scope. I eliminated the original score in favour of a few modern pieces, as they assisted in the flow of the edit. I just recently remembered it and took a look to see if it still existed. There are definitely a lot of cuts I would do differently if I were to attempt it again, but I really shouldn't do that! Enjoy!

so is this movie about moon landing?

Much room for improvement but already 10 times better than the actual movie. Loved the skull smashing bit and how you totally ignored the "Hilton" space station chat and videophone presentation. I think the more of the conversations could be used as voiceover and some of these monolith and hal closeups could be removed. Some other short cuts could be removed as well. Some parts feel a bit comic ... sort of like a parody or a trailer. I felt like you got a bit bored with it after a while which is completely understandable considering the source material.

Dude. When the shot of the bone actually lined up with the shot of space station, I knew that you knew what you were doing. Bravo!
I know I wasn't the only one bugged how those shots never matched perfectly in the original. haha. I wonder why kubrick was okay with the original cut done that way? -
Great job ! And good idea. Though I love this movie, and though Kubrick may not have liked this idea of compacting his movie, I find that the concept of your work is interesting. It is still keeping respect.
