fun fact:
The girl on the top left has a blue jacket that due to editing disappears after they sit down.
Kubrik, after noticing, made sure they add an announcement on the ship saying: "A lost blue jacket has been found..." -
2:54 Single best use of the Pause in cinematic history.
-
This sooo wierd. Any other director like the Coes would've shot this in close ups with shot/reverse shot editing and a couple wides in there but Kubrick does this ALL in wide with NO reverse shot, just switch to another angle so the audience won't get bored.

Rupert Rigsby on the space station?!
-
What does Dr. Andre Smyslov say after Heywood Floyd leaves?? what language is this?
-

This was the guy from Barry Lyndon that Redmond shot.

don't ever trust anyone who shakes your hand with two hands.
-
Superb acting by everyone in this film. Even the apes.
-
LOL at 4:11 he says "This yank takes me for a fool"
-
I thought it was very brave and forward looking of Clarke and Kubrick to portray the Soviets in a sympathetic light.
-
0:30 : "my God…….."

Rob Ager had a good series of videos analyzing ( not critiquing) this film, as well as other work of Kubrick's. Really insightful and thought-provoking - monolith as a hoax, symbol of the actual cinema screen and some other stuff. I'd recommend it to anyone.

-
is this real life? this movie was made in 1968? looks better and note futuristic then anything filmed today. wow.
-
always wondered why the girl on the bottom left holds her hands in a gun pointing position
-
What are they saying in Russian at the end of the clip..? I've always wondered.
-
